Shri Hanuman Chalisa

Jailed for Raising Voice Against Injustice

Since 2019, Maharashtra’s leadership was in the hands of an insensitive, irresponsible, and shortsighted government. The then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, instead of fulfilling his responsibilities, sat idle in his home and enjoyed the power. During this period, farmers, farm laborers, traders, and the youth of the state were suffering from several crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Chief Minister stayed away from the public and remained at his residence. In protest against this inaction, MLA Shri Ravi Rana and Sau Navneet Ravi Rana took the initiative. They decided to read the Hanuman Chalisa outside the residence of the then Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, at his residence 'Matoshree', to urge him to gain wisdom and resolve the crisis in Maharashtra. To highlight the plight of the farmers, MLA Shri Ravi Rana demanded that the Chief Minister visit the farms and see their conditions for himself. However, his decision to recite the Hanuman Chalisa was opposed by the government out of fear. Uddhav Thackeray, claiming that reciting the Hanuman Chalisa was an act of sedition, filed serious charges of treason (Rajdroha) against Shri Ravi Rana and Sau Navneet Ravi Rana and had them imprisoned for 14 days. Despite this, Shri Ravi Rana and Sau Navneet Ravi Rana did not waver and, after their release from prison, continued their struggle, disregarding the Thackeray government, to fight for justice and rights for the common people. At this time, supporters of Shri Ravi Rana expressed strong disapproval of Mr. Uddhav Thackeray's government's "authoritarian nature". They accused him of curbing freedom of speech and using his power to target opposing voices. Furthermore, continuing their fight against the authoritarian government, after two and a half years, 40 MLAs from Mr. Uddhav Thackeray's party, who had opposed the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa, rebelled against him, and with the grace of Lord Hanuman, the authoritarian government fell. Many supporters praised Shri Ravi Rana and Sau Navneet Ravi Rana for their commitment to this cause.

World's Largest 111 Feet Tall Shri Hanumanji Idol

Shri Ravi Rana and Sau Navneet Ravi Rana, expressing their faith, courage, and spiritual feelings, decided to recite Shri Hanuman Chalisa in front of the residence of the then Chief Minister Shri Uddhav Thackeray. This act of devotion to Shri Hanumanji was a peaceful way of showing reverence, but they were opposed, and serious charges such as treason (Rajdroha) were filed against them, leading to their imprisonment for 14 days, which sparked a major controversy. However, instead of being discouraged by this opposition, the couple, while in prison, resolved to transform this incident into a powerful social and spiritual movement by keeping Shri Hanumanji's remembrance alive through devotion and inspiration. To respond to the injustice they faced, they made a commitment to erect the world’s tallest 111-foot statue of Lord Hanuman. This endeavor became a symbol of their faith, courage, and devotion.

As part of this great spiritual work, Shri Ravi Rana and Sau Navneet Ravi Rana established the Shri Hanuman Chalisa Trust. They donated 20 acres of land as a gift to this trust. The land, located from Chhatri Talav to Bhankhed Road, was named Hanuman Gadhi. Hanuman Gadhi and Ram Vatika were created as new spiritual and tourist destinations in the Amravati district. These places have now become significant religious sites and spiritual attractions for tourists. Visitors here not only experience spirituality but can also enjoy the beauty of nature. The pure and fresh air in the area refreshes the mind and helps in maintaining good health, away from the noise of the city. Along with the grand statue of Lord Hanuman at Hanuman Gadhi, a magnificent temple of Lord Ram is also being built. For the convenience of the devotees, a guest house, inquiry center, and large parking facilities are being developed. Additionally, an open-air theater and a photo and art gallery based on the life of Lord Hanuman are being established. As part of beautification, a beautiful garden, walking track, various types of fountains, and numerous play areas for children are being provided. In Ram Vatika, special play and rest areas for children have been created. Notably, the same types of trees and plants that exist in the Ram Vatika of Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram, have also been planted in the Ram Vatika of Hanuman Gadhi. This makes it a perfect destination for tourists visiting with families. The greenery, peaceful environment, cleanliness, and facilities for all age groups have made Hanuman Gadhi and Ram Vatika not just religious sites, but also an ideal tourist destination.
